Notes

Hi, this site presents my own views on 'Web Standards' Web Design, the Web, web-related IT issues, and perhaps some other assorted geeky stuff...(maybe). It is not a personal homepage. My services include Search Engine Optimized (SEO) Web Design embracing valid coding - bespoke efforts that acknowledge issues of Accessibility and recognised Web Standards.

I'm currently based in the County of Hertfordshire (Herts) in the UK.

Okay, okay – this isn’t really news to the web design community (in fact it saw daylight on the 18th October)...but there’s a new and (much) improved version of the Textpattern CMS (Version 4.0.4) out now.

Textpattern 4.0.4 Download

I will be updating my version (I’m still on 4.0.1) as this seems like the first launch of an updated version with features I look forward to using.

Will you notice a difference when visiting the site?

No, probably not. But if I do something goofy with the update process then there might be some sort of weird down-time….(but I hope not!)

The Textpattern boys and girls have spent quite a bit of time getting this new version up to scratch – and it should be worth the wait (or, at least – worth missing the last two versions because they weren’t all that different from 4.0.1)

So, why am I mentioning it at all?

Well, apart from this site uses Textpattern – it’s a big deal to me – there’s also the point that if I do build a site for anyone…that requires a Content Management System (CMS) – it’s very likely I’ll consider Textpattern for the job. So this small article is as much about saying “Hey, I’m up to speed on what’s new with this CMS – and I’ll know what the improvements are over it’s previous versions too,”

...It might be a small thing – but I still think it’s worth posting about it.

I’m also going to try and combine the update of the Textpattern version with a few other things I’m doing (such as the new version of this site for starters!)

[Old post note – 05/05/2007]: Sorry, comments were scrapped when I had to ditch the last database. Apologies to those who left any before. I’m leaving comment posting activated on this post for a month after re-launch and then I’ll disable it after that time.
